PC
Workshop a specialist in network installation. A network is
when two or more computers are linked together. In a single
office environment the network is referred to as Local Area
Network (LAN).
There
are mainly two types of Local Area Networks: Client Server
and Peer-to-Peer. Client Server Networks store software and
data files on a fileserver and are accessible by individual
workstations, and have a more sophisticated security system.
A
Peer-to-Peer workstation acts as a server and a client simultaneously.
This type of network is less expensive and ideal for a small
office. The workstation can access information on every other
workstation on the LAN.
The
main reasons to network are to share information, to share
computer peripherals and to allow for Internet access and/or
outside office communication.
